Alara Vural is an independent, Turkish-English, contemporary dance artist and choreographer with an interest in creating works that invite an audience to sit with unexplored and forgotten internal landscapes. Her movement language combines:
-
Gestural phrasing - influences like Peoelope Morout and Amenti Movemeant
-
An athetic and explosive-style - influences like Kay Crook, Alvin Ailey's Sinner Man.
-
Eco-Somatics & Nature Parcour - influences like Charlie Holt and Loranzo Bazzuro
-
Intuitive & somatic research (Amenti Movemeant & Humanhood)
She has produced two works of her own to date as well as contributed to numerousother productions. Her enjoyment lies in bringing her work to unexpected settings such as mental health events and art exhibitions - to create an embodied way for the audience to experience an existing movement.

Her training is self-directed through a combination of international residencies, workshops, intensives, 1-1 mentorships - as well as collaborating with other and regular profession-classes across major British and European cities. Organisations that have played a notable role in her development are; FreeFall Dance, Chayya Collective and Kalakeli Movement Arts and Roots of Play.
She is now curious about creating site-specific works in landscapes such as boulderfiels or tree canopes - exploring the intersection of eco somatics, contemporary dance and nature parcour.
